Risk context
Travel is the class where declared medical history determines most of the outcome. Non-disclosure, rather than an exclusion, is the more common reason a travel claim fails.
Trip purpose matters too: business travel, extended stays and certain activities are frequently rated or excluded separately.
Concepts that appear in this class
- Medical declaration
- Existing conditions are usually screened at inception. Undeclared conditions are commonly excluded.
- Trip duration limit
- Annual policies typically cap the length of any single trip.
- Activity schedules
- Sports and activities are often grouped into tiers, with some available only by extension.
- Cancellation basis
- Cancellation cover responds to defined causes listed in the policy rather than to any change of plan.
These are general descriptions of terms commonly used in this class of insurance. They do not describe your policy. Whether any of them apply, and on what terms, is determined by the wording, schedule and endorsements issued to you.
What moves the terms
